INSURANCE PREMIUMS
Lower motor insurance premiums are possible
Getting car insurance is unavoidable when you obtain finance
for a new car and the insurance premiums are not necessarily
low either, but that doesn't mean that motor insurance premiums
have to cost you an arm and a leg.
There are several options available from Redisure to help
you pay your insurance premiums in the way that is most convenient
to you.
Advanced payment option
Few people can afford to pay lump sums on their insurance
premiums, but for those who prefer to pay several months ahead
or a once-off payment, there is normally the advanced payment
option. The benefit of this method is that you don’t
have an additional monthly expense and you can get a huge
discount from your insurer.
The disadvantage is that you have to dish out a large sum
of money at once. Redisure understands that most people would
rather pay on a monthly basis and for this reason offers alternative
options to lower insurance premiums.
Monthly payments with a lower excess amount
This option allows you to break up the total amount payable
into more affordable monthly installments. You can opt for
a lower excess payment, but this means that your monthly payments
will be higher. The benefit of this method is that should
a mishap occur, you will be left with a smaller excess amount
to pay.
You may find that at the time of your car accident or damage
to your vehicle, that you don’t have enough finances
to pay the excess. If you select the option of a lower excess
and higher premium, you are more prepared for the unforeseen
incidents.
Monthly payments with a higher excess amount
Redisure also offers you the choice for a higher excess amount
and lower monthly payments. We all try to cut our monthly
expenses and this option is ideally suited for people who
want to minimize their running expenditures. You get a much
lower monthly installment, but the disadvantage is that you
will pay a larger amount before your insurer covers the rest.
If you fear that you may not have enough cash at hand to
pay a large excess, you can still pay the lower monthly installments
offered by Redisure, but save money for the unforeseen events.
If you follow this route, you can save a lot of money and
have the added benefit of lower monthly expenses.
No-Claims Bonus
Redisure rewards clients who haven’t claimed for a
certain period with a No-Claims Bonus. In this way you receive
a bonus back after a specified period. You can ensure that
you qualify after the specific time frame for a No-Claims
Bonus by minimizing the risk of your vehicle being stolen
or damaged:
- Park your car in a lock-up garage in the evenings.
- Install VESA approved immobilizers, gear locks, anti-theft
devices and or alarm systems to your vehicle.
- Install a tracking system in your car.
- Don’t park your vehicle in the street; especially
not in high risk urban areas.
- Drive responsibly and be alert at all times.
- Keep your vehicle in a good roadworthy condition.
- Refrain from speeding.
- Keep a safe distance between your car and the vehicle
in front of you.
Studies have shown that most accidents occur because people
don’t take note of dangerous conditions and other drivers
on the road. You cannot always avoid collisions, but being
extra careful at the following places helps to minimize your
risk:
- Intersections – be on the lookout for pedestrians
and vehicles turning or not stopping at red lights.
- Stop streets and robots – before you step on the
brake pedal look in the rear view mirror to see whether
the vehicle behind you will be able to stop in time. Try
to lower your speed before you come to an intersection to
ensure that the vehicle behind you also slows down.
- Off-ramps and on-ramps on the freeway – be on the
lookout for vehicles coming onto the freeway and those leaving.
Many motorists drive in the far right lane and then cross
the other lanes to get to an off-ramp, causing avoidable
accidents.
By following these rules you minimize the risk of an accident
and thereby ensure a clean driving record. This in turn helps
to get lower insurance premiums and the No-Claims Bonus from
Redisure. Contact your Redisure office for advice on how to
structure your insurance premiums to fit your needs.
