Vehicle safety
Insurance premiums can be lowered when vehicle safety steps
are taken for both reducing the risk of theft and accidents.
When the insured party takes the necessary steps to prevent
accidents or theft, Redisure rewards the client with lower
premiums, excess reductions, and no-claims bonuses.
The following vehicle safety steps can reduce the
risk of loss due to theft:
- Park the car in a lockup garage in the evenings as the
majority of cars get stolen from the gardens of homes during
the night.
- Fit VESA approved anti-theft devices such as removable
steering locks, immobilizers, car alarms, and gearlocks
to the car.
- Install a satellite tracking device to the car. The service
providers have an extremely high recovery rate and are able
to track the car within seconds.
- Don’t park the car in the street.
- Where possible park the car in a secure area at work.
All of the above vehicle safety precautions taken, will lead
to reduced premiums, making insurance affordable, yet comprehensive
at Redisure.
Considerations of vehicle safety when you purchase
a car
Several vehicle safety aspects are taken in consideration
when insurers work out premiums. Some cars fall in a high
accident risk group, whilst others are more likely to be stolen.
Ask your Redisure consultant about the vehicles most at risk
of being stolen or hijacked.
When the insurance premiums are determined the following
factors play a role:
- Age of the car – older cars are more likely to have
worn out parts, such as shocks, brakes, cv-joints, exhausts,
wiper blades etc. and thus pose a higher risk for accidents.
- Color of the car – certain colors such as grey,
metallic blue, and black are more difficult to spot in bad
weather conditions, in the early mornings and in the evenings
and are thus more at risk for head-on collisions. White,
red and yellow cars are more visible. When the color is
selected, the cost for repainting the car is also taken
in consideration.
- Make and model of the car – certain car models
have additional safety features such as airbags, ABS brakes
etc. which reduce the risk of accidents and injuries.
- Older cars don’t always come standard with seatbelts
for the back seats and as such the risk of injuries are
thus higher.
- Repair costs, parts available, and estimated time taken
for repairs are also taken in consideration.
When you take the above in consideration when you purchase
a car, you can considerably reduce your premiums by selecting
a car that is safe, reliable, cost effective, and comes with
standard safety features.
Although the following vehicle safety precautions will not
directly influence your premiums, taking the necessary steps
reduce the risk of accidents and thus having to claim. If
you don’t claim for a specified period you qualify for
the No-Claims Bonus (NCB) from Redisure as a reward for responsible
driving, and precautions taken.
- Always check the oil, water, tyre pressure, working of
the lights and wiper blades before you embark on a long
journey.
- Be alert when you come near a robot as many collisions
appear at intersections when drivers skip the red light
or stop street.
- Keep a safe driving distance between your car and the
car in front.
The following additional vehicle safety steps can be taken
to prevent theft, a break in or hijacking:
- Never leave valuables in the car when it’s parked.
- Don’t put a handbag, cell phone, or other valuables
on the seat while driving.
- Always keep the car doors locked and windows rolled up
when you drive.
- Always keep one car length between your car and the one
in front of you open, when you stop at a robot, to give
you a chance to escape in case of a hijack attempt.
Redisure not only rewards clients for taking vehicle safety
steps with lower premiums, but also provides the NCB in addition
for not claiming for the specified period. Our cover options

Cover; and Third Party Only Cover.
